James Roberts Cycling Coaching
Welcome to James Roberts Coaching
James Roberts Coaching (JRC) was founded in 2016 by James Roberts and Claire Whitworth, both keen cyclists for over 30 years competitively and as regular club riders too. Having a passion for cycling was the main reason for developing JRC as a way of sharing their knowledge, passion and enthusiasm for the sport with others.
Both James and Claire grew up in a club environment, learning to ride in a group on regular Sunday Club runs, come rain or shine, and starting to race in school events such as ESCA during the era of Chris Boardman, with Claire going on to be School Girl Nation Champion in 1987 and subsequently being selected to represent the Junior Girls on the National GB Squad. Claire also raced for a French Regional Team in Brittany, France in 1996, competing against Regional and National French champions. As well as being a competitive cyclist, James was also a competitive ski racer, representing GB in the Masters in France, Italy and the Czech Republic, achieving a bronze medal in Giant Slalom.
Have both competed at Regional, National and International level, on road and track, James and Claire have recently competed at National and World Masters Level on the track, and fully understand the demands and pressures of training to achieve personal goals whilst fitting training and racing into a hectic work / life / family balance.
Behind the scenes, club and family cycling is still at the heart of their passion for the sport, and puts the fun and friendship into what is undoubtedly one of the finest sports in the world to be a part of.
